This summer was a jam packed one. At the start of the summer, John and I talked about minimizing the amount of home projects we worked on and instead taking short day trips every weekend to just relax and spend time with the kids. Well, that didn’t happen. A couple of large web projects came in simultaneously taking far more time than I originally anticipated and John got busy with a number of things at the church making it next to impossible for us to get away. But God, in his graciousness and goodness did provide an alternative plan for us to spend time with the kids and one that was probably far more valuable and rewarding than what we in our finite minds had originally planned.
At the start of the summer, we took our 1 camping trip at which our sweet friend Geneva invited/gave us the idea to sign up to be a vendor at our city’s local farmer’s market in Eaton Rapids. Elena, our blossoming baker, jumped on the idea and hence launched our Farmer’s Marketing experience.
Though we didn’t realize it when we signed up, God was going to give us a summer in which we got to experience the joy of working alongside our kiddos and help teach them different aspects of sales, marketing and business development. Seeing their joy in making a sale, their growth in communicating with others, their blessing in being able to use the money they earned to give back to the Lord through tithing, was a tremendous joy and blessing for us as parents and something we would have never ventured into on our own had not God directed our path.
There is much more I look forward to writing about, but for now I will just say that though the summer didn’t turn out as I had originally planned, God in His great sovereignty and kindness allowed it to turn out the way that no doubt we needed with many fun memories and learning experiences to reflect back on with joy.
